Chevy Auto Parts to Upgrade or Replace Before Winter

November 20th, 2022 by

We put our vehicles through so much more over the winter than at milder times of the year. The cold weather and icy streets can be really hard on your vehicle, and can be unsafe for you. Consider replacing these Chevy auto parts at Woodhouse Chevrolet before the winter season begins.

Tires

Tires are certainly one of the most common parts that drivers upgrade for the winter. It’s beneficial to make the switch to winter tires to be better equipped for our cold Iowa temperatures and snowy season. For your safety, your tires should be replaced if they have less than 6/32 of an inch of tread, whether you opt to use winter tires or not.

Brake Pads

Even the best tires can’t help on slick streets if your brakes aren’t working properly. Now is an opportune time to inspect your brake pads and see if they are too worn and need to be replaced. If they are less than a ¼ inch thick, it’s time to switch them out for new ones.

Windshield Wipers

Your windshield wipers go through a lot each winter. You need to make sure they are up to the task. Double-check that they can clean your windshield thoroughly. (And don’t forget to top off your windshield wiper fluid too!)

Battery

Batteries typically don’t do well in cold temperatures. Make sure to inspect your battery to see if it’s ready to handle the pressure. You also want to carefully clean your terminals, which can affect your battery’s performance too.
