3 Levels of Car Charging

There are three types of car charging to know about: Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3.

Level 1

Level 1 is the most basic. It involves a regular 120-volt outlet, which are found in every home. Because you already have these, you don’t need to do any sort of installation.

They won’t, however, get your battery charged in a timely manner. At most you’ll probably only get about five miles of driving range added per hour.

Level 3

If you have ever driven past a public charging station, this is an example of Level 3 charging. These utilize very powerful outlets, which is why cars can get charged up quickly.

Level 2

Splitting the difference between Level 1 and 3 is Level 2 charging and having this type of charging station installed at your home is easy, because Chevrolet will cover the costs with your purchase of a new 2022 Chevy Bolt EV or Chevy Bolt EUV.

It’s important to have a 240-volt outlet put in somewhere accessible to your car, like the garage. Because your dryer may already use this type of outlet, you might be able to get an adapter that can be utilized with your vehicle.
