Who Makes the Chevy Corvette?

There are only a handful of cars that, when you hear their name, you get a powerful sense of what they are. The Chevy Corvette is one of them. Today, Woodhouse Chevrolet takes you along as we explore the question: who makes the Chevy Corvette?
A History of General Motors
The Chevy Corvette, first introduced in 1953, is manufactured by the General Motors Company. Founded in 1908, GM is the largest automobile manufacturer in America and one of the largest car companies in the world.
General Motors makes a variety of great American car brands, such as Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac. And it all started with horse-drawn carriages.
William C. Durant
The year 1900 saw William C. Durant’s horse-drawn vehicle company become the most prominent business of its kind in the United States. Durant formed the General Motors Company after purchasing the Buick Motor Company in 1904.
Over time, various other companies in the fledgling automobile manufacturing industry were brought into the GM fold, such as Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and Cadillac. Durant co-founded Chevrolet and within less than a decade brought all these brands under the GM umbrella.
America’s Sports Car
From its first generation to the introduction of the iconic Sting Chevy Corvette Stingray Ray in 1963, through to its dynamic modern designs, the Chevy Corvette has become an American sports car institution.
This model’s V8 engine was brand new when it was introduced, inspiring a slew of competitors. Still, no other sports car has been able to eclipse the Corvette as a cultural icon.
